Assistant Vice Provost of Kansas University visits CCNU

On March 27, 2019, Joe Potts, the Assistant Vice Provost of the University of Kansas (KU) visited CCNU.Zhou Bo, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, met with Potts and some student representatives of the Future Educators project.

Zhou noted that the Future Educators project is a landmark training program jointly established by CCNU and KU, .It began in 20l6 and has been successfully held for three sessions. The students from CCNU study academic English, education theory and practice and the related courses such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) at KU School of Education. Also, they visit American primary and middle school classes, and participate in group discussion and other activities. During their stay in the United States, the students were warmly received by KU. Eight weeks of education theory and practice training had a subtle influence on them. He hoped that the students would fulfill their missions and contribute to improving the quality of basic education in China.

Potts pointed out that the students of Future Educators project are positive, punctual and hardworking. They have a solid professional foundation, good English communication skills and teamwork spirit. They always keep in mind that they are representatives of CCNU, and their positive performance left a deep impression upon KU teachers and students, He hopes that the Future Educators project will be even better in the future.

Founded in 1862 and located in Lawrence,Kansas USA, KU is one of the famous public research universities in the United States.

Since 2005, when CCNU and KU signed an agreement on inter-school communication, the two universities have carried out exchanges and cooperation in various aspects in the fields of jointly building Confucius Institutes, reciprocal visits between teachers, student exchange, cooperative research, joint training and so on. Since 2016, the Future Educators project has been held for three consecutive years, and 63 outstanding tuition-free normal university students have been sent to the United States for 8 weeks of training. This project is a significant measure to improve the quality of talent training of CCNU. It aims to promote the students’ understanding of the situation of the basic education in developed countries. They can learn the advanced international educational philosophies and teaching methods, thus becoming excellent teachers and educators with international vision in the future.
